About ClearMax Labs: Who Answers When You Call
ClearMax Labs is run by Jalen May, its founder. The number on this site goes to ClearMax Labs, not to a call center, and the person who does the work is the one who calls you back. The work is remote by default, for dental practices across the Tampa Bay area, and ClearMax Labs is licensed and insured.

What does ClearMax Labs do?
ClearMax Labs supports what a dental practice's software runs on. For an Open Dental practice that means the Windows server, the MySQL/MariaDB service, the shared A-to-Z folder, the network, the workstations, the antivirus exclusions, the backups and the restore tests, remote access with MFA, and a patch schedule that keeps the server from rebooting during patient care. The program itself, its upgrades, conversions and eServices belong to Open Dental Software, and when the problem is theirs, ClearMax opens that ticket with the evidence attached.
The work is dental-led. ClearMax also serves other regulated businesses whose software has the same shape: one database, one server, a room full of computers that depend on it.
How does a ticket run?
- You call (813) 547-8506 or send the form. If Open Dental is down, call.
- A few questions first: which version, server or cloud, one computer or all of them, where the server is and how old, who runs the backups, which eServices, and whether the vendor subscription is current.
- A remote session to the server and the affected workstations. The plumbing is proved first: power, service, disk, share, network, version.
- If the fault is in the program, the vendor ticket is opened under your subscription with the evidence attached, and ClearMax stays on it.
- You get a plain written note of what was found and what was changed.
A server replacement is scoped as a project after a free assessment. Nothing is quoted before the assessment.
What ClearMax Labs does not do
- Write or modify the Open Dental program, its database schema or its eServices. That is the vendor's.
- Run version upgrades or conversions from another practice management system. The vendor does those; ClearMax prepares the server and the backup around them.
- Quote by phone without seeing the server. Scoped and quoted after a free assessment.
If Open Dental is down right now, the Open Dental down page has the five-minute checks and the number.
